Enabling healthcare professionals to safeguard patient and staff data

With Getinge’s Integrated Workflow Solutions (IWS), healthcare professionals are provided with tools to protect both patient and staff data, which makes it easy to comply with new and existing data regulations even on the most hectic days.

GDPR Patient Data

Regulations for storing and protecting personal data are becoming much stricter and more defined. The General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) that replaced the Data Protection Directive 95/46/EC came into force on May 25th, 2018 across the European Union.

For healthcare professionals this law has a huge effect on their everyday work life, since they need to take on the role as data controllers. Some of the challenges they face are to handle, store and manage a large amount of patient data – often for many years. And at the same time they need to be compliant to these new rules.

“Getinge’s Integrated Workflow Solutions make it easier for the healthcare personnel to comply with the regulations in a safe and easy way, even on a very busy day,” says Carin Kuylenstierna, Vice President IWS.

One of these solutions is INSIGHT, which manages the patient flow by providing complete transparency, collaboration and overview in and across departments. Another solution is T-DOC, the sterile supply management solution that brings complete overview and integration to the instrument supply chain for the highest standards of safety and utilization.

“Aside from helping the staff to act according to the regulations, it also brings efficiency and gives them more time to focus on providing the best possible care for the patients,” tells Carin Kuylenstierna.
