Advancing cardiovascular surgery

A significant milestone was achieved through recent Endoscopic Vessel Harvesting (EVH) training program at King Fahad Medical City (KFMC) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia run by Getinge. This initiative has not only fortified our capabilities in cardiovascular care but has also paved the way for the establishment of new EVH users at Burjeel Hospital in Abu Dhabi. This collaboration marks a significant step in expanding the reach of cutting-edge EVH surgery across borders.EVH-3

As cardiovascular diseases continue to pose a significant global health challenge, ongoing advancements in surgical techniques are imperative. Recognizing the need to remain at the forefront of medical innovation, Getinge decided to develop and implement a comprehensive EVH training program. In June 2023, Getinge successfully established a contract with KFMC in Riyadh. This achievement was made possible by the efforts of our Saudi’s team, leveraging state-of-the-art facilities and expertise.

The EVH training program at KFMC aimed to empower healthcare professionals with the necessary skills and knowledge for endovascular vessel harvesting procedures. It encompassed hands-on training sessions, theoretical modules and real-life case studies, with a focus on refining proficiency in endoscopic techniques to ensure precision, efficiency and patient safety. Special thank you note should go to Mr. Ahmad Issa, EVH Clinical Specialist at Getinge, for his valuable support and training of healthcare professionals.

The Endoscopic Vessel Harvesting training at KFMC not only strengthened the capabilities in Riyadh but also fostered collaboration with Burjeel Hospital in Abu Dhabi. This joint effort highlights our commitment to advancing cardiovascular care across borders for the benefit of patients in the region. As we celebrate this success, we anticipate more collaborations and innovations shaping the future of cardiovascular surgery.
