About the Forum

This event is an educational forum where CSSD Managers, Technicians and Biomedical Engineers from across the region share their experiences, focusing on the CSSD design and management. The target is to discuss and learn, how to operate a Central Sterile Services Department efficiently and how the CSSD of the future looks like. With the support of the Instruments’ Manufacturer Aesculap and international speakers from Getinge, an interesting program had been put together for the participants. This contained the workflow in a CSSD as 360° view, a closer look at the Washing, Disinfection and Steam Sterilization, the testing of the washing process, such as SBS Containers and Wrapping Material. As an external insight, Dr. Gerhard Kirmse, Director of Business Development Management at Aesculap USA, presented Cleaning, Disinfection and Sterilization from the perspective of an Instruments Manufacturer.

The second day of the event focused on Water Treatment, Low Temperature Sterilization and how to keep the equipment operational and the future of the Central Sterile Service Department. The day was concluded with a “CSSD Club Challenge” in which all participants could test their knowledge and compete.

Congratulations to the winners of the challenge:

1st place: Gretta Abou Rjaily, AUBMC, Lebanon

2nd place: Hanouf Albuijan, Ministry of Health, Kuwait
