MEA Harvesters Club 2019

The special characteristic of events for practitioners of our solutions is, to not only share the latest updates and trends from Getinge´s side, but also get to know their feedback, experiences, listen and learn from them.

IMG_0018“MEA Region’s Harvesters Club is a unique chance and venue for all major cardiac centers from Middle East and Africa, to meet, discuss and participate in a scientific environment that allows the sharing of knowledge and experience.

The Harvesters Club has become an icon for EVH and ERAH in the region and brings together different centers and schools of cardiac surgery to further develop and enhance clinical outcomes. Through interactive program and open panel discussion, surgeons and harvesters come as one for the sake of improving the outcomes of CABG patients”, says Mohamed Elghawaby, Application Manager, OR at Getinge.

On 26th April 2019 Getinge hosted the 8th edition of the Harvesters Club for the Middle East and Africa Region, which took place at the Experience Center in Rastatt this year. 65 Harvesters, Cardiac Surgeons and Heads of CTS departments gathered in the German city to experience Getinge as trusted partner for Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG) cases from Pre-OP, Intra-OP to Post-OP and to learn more about different solutions for each of them. For more than 40 years, Getinge has shared the goal of improving your cardiac surgery service - enhancing patient care, reducing operational costs and contributing to a positive patient experience.

We are delighted to have had support from valued speakers during the Plenary Session and therefore would like to thank Brian Mullin, Clinical Director from Emory Healthcare, for sharing the clinical program design and how it is supporting the EVH and ERAH therapy. Furthermore it was a pleasure to have Dr. Gopal Bhatnagar presenting OPCAB (Off-Pump Cardiac Surgery) experiences from Trillium in Canada and CCAD UAE. Jan Germ, Physician Assistant from Netherlands, has joined us for a presentation and live case showing the benefits of Radial artery ultrasound mapping prior to ERAH cases. Wout van Nierop, Sales Representative CS at Getinge, had presented the latest clinical updates on EVH and CABG.

As a base for discussion and to learn from personal experiences, speakers from the Middle East had been invited to present their clinical studies, done in the Middle East in three different centres. Dr. Bahi Hyasat´s presentation “From the leg to the heart, Hemopro2 in a new place”, Dr. Amir Osama on “ERAH in CABG: Clinicopathological Evaluation” and Dr. Mohamed Youssef´s “6 years EVH Experience in Chest Disease Hospital” rounded off the afternoon sessions of this event.

IMG_0204The presentations had been supported by a live case of radial artery ultrasound mapping as a Hands-On Workshop. One of the highlights of the day was the opening of the brand new ACT Area in the Experience Center, which had just taken place on the same day. All participants were eager to explore the area and get to know more about all different therapies offered and presented. The Experience Center Tour created great interest in the ICU, Hybrid OR and the ACT Therapy solutions among all participants.

Celebrating participants with 100% Adoption of EVH and ERAH, Getinge honored those attendees in the evening, as a conclusion of the day. Thank you for your trust!
